Aston Martin Rancho Mirage

The world of Aston Martin is evolving with an all-new concept car. The Lagonda Vision Concept is planned to debut in 2021, and it will be the world’s first zero-emission luxury vehicle. The concept is both genius and intriguing.

“The Lagonda Vision Concept is an incredibly bold design statement. The electrification revolution means there is no longer any need for horse and carriage design, and our new concept shows the scope of design opportunities that open up once you no longer need to provide space for a large power source directly in front of the passenger compartment. In the Lagonda Vision Concept, the batteries occupy the floor of the car. Everything above that line belongs to us,” said Aston Martin EVP and Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman.

Bonus? The all-new concept utilizes powerful electric batteries, which will enable it to cover up to 400 miles between charges.

Aston Martin has created an extraordinary interior design for the Valkyrie hypercar. The look is intimidating and powerful, yet sophisticated and sleek. The cockpit is an intriguing teardrop shape that complements the lower tub contours running down either side of the cockpit floor. For optimum interior space, the seats are mounted directly to the tub, which allows both driver and passenger to enjoy a reclined ‘feet-up’ position reminiscent of today’s Formula One and Le Mans Prototype race cars.

Matt Hill, Aston Martin Creative Director of Interiors said, “It’s been a tremendous challenge to make the interior packaging work. We’ve embraced Red Bull Racing’s Formula One ethos and approached from a different angle than conventional road car design. In this instance, we’ve started from a position where you think something is impossible and work at it until you find a way to make it work. We’ve been fighting for millimeters everywhere, but the battle has been worth it, as it’s been fantastic seeing customers try the interior buck for size. They love the ritual of getting in and how it feels to be sat behind the wheel. They’re also genuinely surprised at how the car just seems to swallow them. You really do have to sit in it to believe there is genuine space for two large adults.”

The Aston Martin Valkyrie was designed to impress the moment you step inside.

The DB11 Volante

Nov 6, 2017

Aston Martin has brought back the ravishing power of the DB11, now stronger than ever before. Aston Martin’s most elegant convertible, the DB11, has turned a new chapter in the world of motorcars.

Powered by a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo 510PS V8 engine, the DB11 Volante is built around the all-new bonded aluminum structure first seen in the DB11 Coupe. The model is strikingly pure and exquisitely refined. Take a look at the DB11 Volante in the video below!

We encourage you to visit us at indiGO Auto Group’s Aston Martin Rancho Mirage on the Desert European Motorcars Campus to test drive the Aston Martin DB11 Volante today.

Aston Martin has gone above and beyond once again with the development of the Vanquish Speedster and Shooting Brake. The two models represent the luxurious family of the Vanquish Zagato. The roofless design expresses the excitement of the open-top ultra-high performance sports car. With dramatic herringbone carbon fiber facia, extensive ‘Z’ motif quilting, and the option of a full aniline leather upholstery, the Shooting Brake is a fitting complement to the Coupe, Volante, and Speedster. The two models are shockingly exhilarating in every aspect—inside and out.

“We haven’t released Zagato models as a family before, at least not in this way, but the idea is not without precedent. Think back to the DB7 Zagato and DB AR1, or the V8 Zagato Coupe and Volante, for example. We’ve simply taken things a few steps further. Why create a family of Zagatos? Well, many of our customers want different things. Some prefer the purity of a Coupe, but others love the idea of something more extreme, like the Speedster. And yes, some of them have ordered one example of each. There’s always an over-demand from our clients and patrons. We could easily fulfill the demand for more cars than this, but we want Zagato to remain something very special. We’re creating collectibles, future concours cars. With only 325 cars worldwide, divided between 99 Coupes, 99 Volantes, 28 Speedsters and 99 Shooting Brakes – they are still the rarest of the rare,” explained Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman.

The Speedster and Shooting Brake elegantly and exquisitely represent the two facets of the Vanquish Zagato family.

The Valkyrie is one of the most interesting and forward-thinking models to surface from the team at Aston Martin, and recently, the designers released some of the secrets of the new design. Considered to be a hypercar, the Valkyrie is futuristically aerodynamic. The sleek exterior design still leaves plenty of comfortable space inside for both the driver and the passenger. The OLED display shows all the cars infotainment and information systems and displays the details conveniently for the driver. The “glasshouse” design of the cab allows for nearly 360-degree views.

Of the interior features, Aston Martin’s Creative Director of Interiors Matt Hill said, “It’s been a tremendous challenge to make the interior packaging work. We’ve embraced Red Bull Racing’s Formula One ethos and approached from a different angle than conventional road car design. In this instance, we’ve started from a position where you think something is impossible and work at it until you find a way to make it work. Aston Martin has been hard at work upgrading the DB11. The DB11 is now offered with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine making the Aston Martin quicker than ever before.

“As an engineer I find the DB11 a fascinating car. One with great depth of character and ability. Of course the V12-engined variant is an icon – an ultimate, if you like, but the V8 is very much its own car. One with a distinct and carefully crafted character that’s truly seductive. It has been hugely rewarding to put our stamp on this new engine – both in the way it sounds and performs – and to use its impressive attributes as the impetus to reveal a little more of the DB11’s sporting character,” commented Aston Martin’s Chief Technical Officer, Max Szwaj.

The DB11 can take off from 0 to 60mph in just a matter of 3.8 seconds. The model is beyond impressive as it reaches a max speed of 187 mph effortlessly. The new engine is much lighter, allowing the DB11 to have an increased sense of agility. The engine is not the only thing that has changed within the model. There has been a subtle, unique change in the design. The alloy wheel finish, dark headlamp bezels and a pair of bennet vents have been featured on the upgraded DB11. The V8-powerred DB11 will be available in the US late this year.

Celebrating its 75th anniversary, Aston Martin’s Atom concept car remains elegant and iconic. The Atom was the first model produced by David Brown in 1948. The Atom worked as an avant-garde prototype developed using an early form of space-frame chassis and independent suspension. This remarkable vehicle led to the creation of great classic designs such as the unforgettable DB family. This very concept car was one of the reasons behind Brown’s decision to purchase the company.

As the years passed, the Atom was moved into the Le Mans Motor Museum where it was then purchased by current owner, Tom Rollason. “The Atom encapsulates everything that Aston Martin represents. It was highly fashionable, at the cutting-edge of design and anybody would have been extremely proud to have owned it,” Rollason says. The interior is striking and exquisite, with airline-style seats in luxurious deep-red leather. Gordon Sutherland participated in the design concept of the historical and sculpted Atom. “The very rigid body, which gives the impressive front suspension, is actually a very comfortable ride and actually very modern in its feel. Sutherland’s aim was to avoid too many connections from the engine bay to the cockpit to minimize fumes and noise,” explains Rollason.

The Atom reaches a top speed of 96 mph and runs perfectly on modern smooth roads. When the Second World War began, the second Atom was never built, but Sutherland was not short of ideas on what he wanted to do with it. “He was going to put extra length in the chassis so that it was a true four-door saloon,” Rollason explains. “He also planned to lower the roofline, which would have made it a very streamlined car. And he wanted a smaller petrol tank to increase the boot space and a different gearbox if the Cotal wasn’t available. There were also going to be some changes to the rear braking system.”

Aston Martin is redeveloping the former military site in St. Athan, South Wales into a new manufacturing facility, and just recently the brand celebrated their heritage and the groundbreaking of the renovations. The Aston Martin Vulcan took the spotlight among 28 exquisite and rare models. The vast, empty hangars of the former military base offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase Aston Martin’s 104-year history. During the celebration, a film was produced to commemorate the transfer of ownership of the three super hangars at St. Athan to Aston Martin.

Rooted in ancient mythology, the name Valkyrie joins the iconic name of Aston Martin in their brand new model. The name continues a fine tradition of Aston Martin ‘V’ cars. This began back in 1951 with Vantage, which was selected as a name to distinguish high performance variants of the then current model, the DB2. The Valkyrie perfectly captures the drama of what is not only the ultimate Aston Martin, but the ultimate expression of hypercar design, engineering and performance. Aston Martin’s Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman said, “Aston Martin model names have deep meaning. They need to inspire and excite. To tell a story and enrich a narrative that stretches back some 104-years. The Aston Martin Valkyrie is an incredibly special car that demands an equally remarkable name; an uncompromising car that leaves nothing in reserve. The connotations of power and honor, of being chosen by the Gods are so evocative, and so pertinent to a car that only a fortunate few will ever experience.” Discover the out-of-this-world hypercar below.
